TYPESETTING 2023Measured Magazine is a punk-inspired editorial project that celebrates the raw, rebellious energy of music culture. Designed with unconventional page layouts and experimental typography, the magazine embraces the DIY aesthetic of punk, chaotic, gritty, and unapologetically authentic.
DESIGN & EDITORIAL EXECUTIONMeasured was designed to channel the raw, rebellious spirit of punk through editorial layout and typesetting. The project rejects traditional grids in favor of experimental compositions, where typography becomes an active part of the storytelling. Text spirals, stretches, and collides with imagery, echoing the chaotic rhythm of punk music.
Distressed textures, black-and-white photography, and bold contrasts reinforce the DIY zine aesthetic, while maintaining enough structure for readability. Each spread was treated as a standalone visual statement, yet together they create a cohesive rhythm, gritty, unapologetic, and alive with energy. By blending typographic experimentation with cultural storytelling, the magazine captures the authenticity of punk in print form. REFLECTIONThis project demonstrates my ability to use type not only as a tool for communication but also as a medium for expression. By breaking away from conventional design systems, Measured allowed me to explore editorial design as a space for experimentation, balancing raw energy with structure and intent.
